Registered Midwifery
The Registered Midwifery programme is a three-year pre-service programme that prepares students for professional midwifery practice. Students gain comprehensive knowledge in maternal and newborn care, reproductive health, and community midwifery.
REntry Requirements
- WASSCE/SSSCE: Credit passes (A1–C6) in English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science
- WASSCE/SSSCE: Credit passes (A1–C6) in three elective subjects
- Age: 17–35 years at time of application
- Medical fitness certificate
OLearning Outcomes
- Provide safe and effective midwifery care
- Manage normal and complicated deliveries
- Conduct antenatal and postnatal care
- Promote reproductive health in communities
Registered General Nursing
The Registered General Nursing programme is designed for registered nurses who wish to specialise in midwifery. The 18-month programme provides advanced clinical training in obstetrics and gynaecology, neonatal care, and high-risk pregnancy management.
REntry Requirements
- WASSCE/SSSCE: Credit passes (A1–C6) in English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science
- WASSCE/SSSCE: Credit passes (A1–C6) in three elective subjects
- Valid certificate as a Registered General Nurse (RGN)
- At least 1 year post-qualification clinical experience
- Letter of recommendation from current employer
- Current practicing licence from NMCGH

- Neonatal resuscitation and critical care
- Management of high-risk pregnancies
- Leadership in midwifery practice settings
Nursing Assistants
The Nursing Assistants programme provides foundational training in patient care and clinical support. Graduates work alongside registered nurses in hospitals, clinics, and community health settings to deliver high-quality patient care.
REntry Requirements
- BECE certificate with minimum aggregate 20 or WASSCE passes
- Age: 18–30 years at time of application
- Good health and physical fitness
- Police clearance certificate
OLearning Outcomes
- Basic patient assessment and vital signs monitoring
- Personal care and hygiene assistance
- Wound care and medication administration support
